Google Analytics is loaded in a restricted mode in which it writes no cookies and no identifiers; it only reports that a page was viewed, with no way to recognise you or link that view to any other. If you accept statistics cookies, it switches to its normal behaviour. If you decline, it stays restricted.
Everything else — anything in the preferences or marketing categories — is blocked outright until you accept it.

- Necessary — required for the site to work and to remember your cookie choice. These cannot be switched off, and no consent is needed for them.
- Preferences — remember choices you make, such as your language.
- Statistics — help us see which pages are useful, in aggregate.
- Marketing — used to measure or target advertising. We do not currently run any advertising. The category appears in the banner so the choice is already yours if that ever changes.
