Hi everyone, I’m Sasha! :) I’ve lived in England, Canada and Europe, and I’ve been teaching English for 3 years. I know speaking a foreign language can be scary. My goal is to create a comfortable space where everyone can be themselves and practise speaking English with confidence.

This is not your typical speaking club

Most speaking clubs are awkward group calls where you are unsure of what to say. To speak confidently you need a structured approach, a safe space to make mistakes, and guidance from a teacher. You can find this in The Speak English Community by Still Brewing. Save your free seat and start practising.

Each call is 80 minutes

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes! They show we are trying :)

  • The plan Every call starts with a plan, so you always know what to expect.
  • The rules Three rules to make sure the group is a comfortable and safe place to practise.
  • The topic A new topic each week, curated around our interests and yours. That is what makes the conversation go deeper, and what makes meeting new people worth it.
  • Warm-up You introduce yourself in the first 10 minutes, with the questions and phrases already on screen.
  • Breakout rooms 1 Breakout rooms of 3, where most of the speaking happens. We give you the questions to ask and the phrases to use.
  • Breakout rooms 2 Another breakout room, new people, and one more question to talk through.
  • Reflection Make one or two phrases stick by reflecting on what you learned.

Questions before you come

  1. Yes. Half of a conversation is faces: you speak more freely, and you always know whose turn it is when you can see the people you’re talking to.

  2. This group is for people who can already hold a basic conversation. If you understand a lot but freeze, translate in your head before you speak, run out of words halfway through a sentence, or just need more practice, that’s exactly who this is for. If you can’t yet build a full sentence in English, the room will move too fast and you won’t enjoy it.

  3. You don’t have to. But we do send the vocabulary for the topic before the call, so you can look through it and walk in with a few phrases ready if you want to.

  4. Yes. There are 10 seats in a group, but most of the call happens in breakout rooms of three, so there is plenty of time for everyone to practise.
